Study shows positive lab environment critical for undergraduate success in research

(Arizona State University) An Arizona State University study, conducted by 14 undergraduate students and their research mentors, found that more than 50% of life sciences students who participated in the study considered leaving their undergraduate research experience. Ultimately, more than 50% decided to leave. They also found the most important factors that influence whether a student decides to continue working in research included a positive lab environment and enjoying their everyday research tasks.
