Facebook Dating Expands to Canada and Thailand, Adds New Features

It was confirmed by Facebook earlier this year that the world’s largest social network will get dating features. It launched them as a test in Colombia recently and the company is now expanding this test to two additional markets. The dating feature draws on many aspects of Facebook in order to encourage users to meet in public. It’s fundamentally different from the swiping models used by popular dating apps like Tinder. Facebook Dating has been expanded to users in Canada and Thailand today. Moreover, based on feedback from users in Colombia, a couple of new features have been added as well. Users will now be able to temporarily pause matches and they will also get the ability to take a “second look” at potential matches that they previously declined. What Facebook hasn’t revealed so far is the number of people who signed up to try out the dating feature in Colombia. Nathan Sharp, the product manager, did say that the initial response has been “overwhelmingly positive.
